GENERAL INFORMATION

Objective

A Generic Instructor Course (GIC) concentrates on teaching technical and non-technical skills, leading team work, providing feedback, assessing knowledge, skills and attitudes.

Who the course is suitable for

The course is suitable only for candidates who have attended ALS (Advanced Life Support), EPLS (European Paediatric Life Support), ILS (Immediate Life Support), EPILS (European Paediatric Immediate Life Support), NLS (Newborn Life Support) or ETC (European Trauma Course) provider courses and been recommended as having Instructor Potential (IP) by the course faculty.

All applicants should hold a current clinical appointment and professional healthcare qualification.

GIC instructors

ERC certified Czech, British, Polish and German instructor-trainers.

GIC language

English, Czech, Slovak (at least basic knowledge of reading and communication skills in English is necessary)

HOW TO BECOME AN ERC INSTRUCTOR

A Provider (P) is an individual who has successfully completed a provider course (ILS, ALS, EPILS, EPLS, NLS, ETC).

An Instructor Potential (IP) is an individual who has completed a provider course successfully and has shown an aptitude to teach. In addition, he or she must fulfil the criteria necessary to qualify as a future instructor and have been recommended for IP status by the Faculty of that course. Only candidates identified as Instructor Potentials are invited to attend an Instructor Course.

An Instructor Candidate (IC) is an individual who has passed an Instructor Course successfully.

A Full Instructor (FI) is an Instructor Candidate who has successfully completed his FI training. Full Instructors teach on a provider course.
